Abstract

Environmental monitoring is a strategic tool allowing to manage the profit and prestige of the subject, the quality of work and services, to reduce the impact of environmental elements in the course of economic activity. The process of introducing environmental controlling into the activities of economic entities in some cases requires a probabilistic assessment of environmental risks, an analysis of possible losses and damages for an economic entity and a classification of environmental hazards. The economic damage caused by pollution is the cost of pollution. The first part of the cost of pollution is the cost of preventing pollution through pollution control measures. Environmental costs are aimed at neutralizing industrial waste and reducing waste generation through the introduction of low-waste technologies. The second part of the costs of pollution is the direct economic damage from pollution—it consists of the costs of preventing the impact of pollution on recipients and compensating for the consequences of this impact.
