Abstract

The exploration and development of the Arctic continental shelf and its resources has long clearly been one of the priority areas for the development of the Russian oil and gas sector. However, a number of exogenous factors intervened in the initial plans for the development of hydrocarbon resources of the Arctic continental shelf of Russia. These factors require a significant adjustment of the state policies in this region. 2020 was marked by the adoption of several strategic documents at once that are directly related to the regulation of various aspects of the development of the Arctic Zone of the Russian Federation. These documents are analyzed and the most important threats to the oil and gas sector in the Russian Arctic are uncovered.
