Abstract

From history to today’s world, Egypt can be accepted as the connection point of the European and African world. This chapter focuses on the significance of administrative tradition of Egypt by having a thick dossier including kings, colonial era and military interventions in public administration. Apart from this thick dossier, Egypt is also critical since it represents the first historical example of bureaucracy during the Ancient Egypt era. Mehmet Ali Pasha is the prominent figure for the administrative history of the Egypt on the development road. Within the framework of central government structure, Egypt represents a central type that brings about problems regarding full control on local government. With this domino effect, public personal system draws attention with its crowded structure and civil society is suppressed under this central control. Suez Canal, Al-Azhar University and having petroleum reserves make Egypt one of the most important actors of the MENA region.
