Abstract

Technology has a significant influence on the tourist industry, particularly the management of large events and festivals. It has dominated the path to event success, particularly in terms of how it is altering guest expectations and how it may be used to create a win-win situation for both the organizer and the attendee. The days of mailing list, brochures, leaflets are becoming irrelevant as technological developments overtake the purpose. Based on sharing from the industry players involved in organizing and managing major events and festivals in Malaysia such as Le Tour de Langkawi, Thaipusam festival, Pasir Gudang World Kite festival, the Regatta Lepa Semporna, MyBalloon Fiesta and many more. This chapter elucidates how technology advancement is being used to create a unique atmosphere and memorable experience to tourists. It specifically exposes in what way technology has been benefiting the events industry including in outreaching, promoting and managing the events.
