The Choice of Rural Informatization Pattern in China’s Coordination of Urban–rural Development

Abstract

Information asymmetry is an important cause of urban–rural differences between urban and rural areas, especially between cities and poor rural areas, it is difficult to achieve positive economic interaction due to the lack of information channels. In particularly, in an internet era of massive information, “digital polarization” has further aggravated social fracture and the disparity between the rich and the poor. With accelerated agriculture and rural modernization, China is facing a rare historical development opportunity, i.e., a “superposition period” of rural modernization driven by rural informatization. Therefore, it is imperative to develop a sustainable development strategy and choose the appropriate development pattern for the building of an agricultural and rural information service system as well as promoting agricultural information technology innovation.
