Abstract

Microfinance can help to provide secure life among people who cannot get credit and want to do business. The people who can’t get money from bank can get the finance from usurer; microcredit is an important way to eliminate this situation. Based on an in-depth literature review, this chapter aims to investigate the political economy of microfinance from the gender and politics point of view under the specific focus of its role upon social inclusion of women to the workforce and empowerment of women. Microcredit also plays important role in gender equality. Unemployed women who cannot participate to workforce can benefit from microfinance to establish their own business. This can help to enhance welfare among women and help to provide gender equality. Social inclusion of women to the workforce can help women to enter politics. Women who want to attain politics can realize their aims due to social inclusion to active life. This chapter can be beneficial to academics, politicians, and bankers.
