Abstract

The number of investment opportunities an angel investor sees before making an investment is called deal flow. They may or may not be investible deals, but includes entire universe of the deals from all the sources that eventually form investment opportunities for an angel investor. In this chapter, we understand the importance of this deal flow, what are the different sources of a deal flow for an angel investor, and how can an angel investor get access to a high-quality deal flow. The deal flow is crucial for angel investors to increase the odds of selecting a good investment and avoid adverse selection. Another advantage is the amount of information gained by angels through these deals. More importantly, building a reputation as an angel investor ensures that they become highly recommended to attract quality entrepreneurs. It involves cultivating a brand through thought leadership, expertise, word of mouth, and networking.
