Carbon Emission of on Site Logistics for Tall Buildings

Abstract

There have been many studies on tall building transportation. However, these studies focus on vertical transportation machinery selection and site layout, and seldom conduct carbon emission analysis on the logistics of high-rise buildings. Because the construction site is relatively chaotic and the type of equipment used is large, it is difficult to count the energy consumption of the equipment used in each construction step. Therefore, this study uses detailed on-site process data to analyze the greenhouse gas produced by logistics in the site during the construction stage of case study. The results showed that the carbon emission of horizontal transportation was 32.58% in the construction site, while that of vertical transportation was 11.96%. Carbon emissions from horizontal transport in the field have been ignored in previous studies. The survey results also show that the civil engineering of high-rise buildings is determined by the carbon emission of horizontal transportation within the site, and the installation of high-rise buildings is determined by the carbon emission of vertical transportation within the site.
