Abstract

Emerging from different backgrounds, King Hussein of Jordan and Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin forged a close relationship that became deep friendship. The King was raised by his grandfather Abdullah, and throughout his life, he sought co-existence with Israel to ensure the survival of his kingdom. Yitzhak Rabin was a military man who fought against Jordan in 1948 and led the Israeli army in the June 1967 Six Days War when it captured the West Bank and East Jerusalem. More than anyone else, these two leaders were responsible for the 1994 Israel-Jordan peace treaty.
