Abstract

The Internet has changed work. Few employees in non-manual jobs do not have at least one electronic Net-connected device on their desks through which they can connect with the rest of their organization, indeed, if they wish, with much of the rest of the world, enabling them to do more complex jobs more easily and faster. Technology now enables us to transcend the simple desk-chair-office-colleagues settings in which business has traditionally been done. Even manual workers carry around tablets and mobile phones that enable huge connectivity with a massive, varied virtual environment.
