Abstract

In 1983, when studying the effects of protease inhibitors in vivo, one of the authors, Wada, bad to search for a mathematical tool for analyzing a set of data possibly affected by feedback regulations in the body. In such a moment his secretary, Mrs Aoki, happened to find a red book entitled “Statistical analysis and control of dynamic systems (in Japanese)”, which was written by Professor Akaike and his colleague (Akaike and Nakagawa, 1972). Although its main subject was about the control of engineering plants, it seemed to be useful for biomedical studies as well. Anyhow, this rare occasion eventually led us to the wonder land of AR modeling analysis of the living body.
