LIMS in a forensic laboratory

Abstract

Forensic science laboratories, particularly those involved with horse racing, are operating within the commercial world. They are expected to provide more answers from an increasing number of samples, and are expected to do this with less staff, in a much shortened period, and at lower unit costs. All of this has to be achieved within the legal environment in which we at the Horseracing Forensic Laboratory (HFL) and other forensic laboratories operate. There is a need to be able to prove that all work is performed to an internationally accepted level of quality.
