Abstract

In this paper we discuss the hierarchical model which has the property to be sufficently simple, but not enough to pervert the system in exam from its essential aspects. In fact it has already been applied to different natural systems: in an economical context to the distribution of coins, in a sociological context to the distribution of the population in the country. In this context we propose the description of the hierarchical structure of the brain cortex and we discuss some general features of natural languages. An intriguing point which has been raised from this first analysis of languages is the problem of determining the value function of the elements at each level: the value of an individual level is proportional to the power of a certain number, which is defined “module”.
