Abstract

Samenvatting Efficiënte planning en monitoring zijn cruciaal in zorginstellingen voor hoogwaardige zorg. Bedbezetting is een belangrijke maat voor drukte en personeelstoewijzing. Vaak wordt deze gebaseerd op verpleegdagen, maar een nauwkeuriger beeld ontstaat wanneer opname- en ontslagtijden worden meegenomen, de zogeheten ‘warme bedtijd’. Dit hoofdstuk vergelijkt beide methoden en toont aan dat verpleegdagen een onnauwkeurige basis vormen voor capaciteitsinzichten. Goed inzicht in bedbezetting ontstaat pas als opname- en ontslagtijdstip als uitgangspunt worden genomen voor het berekenen van de bedbezetting. Daarnaast presenteren we een instrument om gegevens te ordenen en bedbezetting te analyseren. Aan de hand van een voorbeeld laten we zien hoe de verpleegdagen kunnen worden vertaald naar warme bedtijd, en hoe deze gegevens kunnen worden gebruikt om het benodigde aantal bedden in het ziekenhuis te plannen. Voorbeelden in dit hoofdstuk helpen zorginstellingen bij het plannen, inkopen en voorbereiden van personeel op drukke perioden, wat de kwaliteit van de zorg ten goede komt.
