Abstract

Zusammenfassung Aristoteles ist für uns eine zentrale Figur. Denn anders als Thales und Anaximander, anders als Anaxagoras und Demokrit ist er ein Gegner des Infiniten, ein entschiedener, entschlossener und scharfsinniger Gegner, der mit seiner Erfindung des „Potential-Unendlichen“ die Axt an die Wurzel des wahren und eigentlichen Unendlichen, des „Aktual-Unendllchen“, gelegt hat. Nach dem heilenlschen Rausch des Unendlichen beginnt mit ihm der europäische Katzenjammer. Man darf nie den übermächtigen Einfluss dieses Mannes durch ganz Europa und durch alle Jahrhunderte hindurch vergessen. Er war der Hauptantagonist Galileis und der Fundamentalantagonist Cantors. An keinem Philosophen hat Cantor sich so abgearbeitet wie an diesem einen Griechen.
