Abstract

The focus of this paper consists in the operational transportation planning and especially the integration of the traditional vehicle routing and scheduling of the own vehicle fleet with the resource planning of subcontractors’ fleet, paid for fulfillment on the basis of different tariffs. Two planning approaches are proposed for this problem: the common approach used in most freight forwarding companies nowadays, and an alternative, new ‘bundle-oriented’ approach. The results of first examples show that the new approach generates results of essentially better quality.
