Abstract

In this paper two approaches are presented, which explicitly explain the appearance of inefficiencies in production processes by rational decision behavior. The first approach generates inefficiencies by attributing an independent value to them. In the second approach inefficiencies are the result of maximizing the utility in dependence of performance parameters, which lead to an inefficient production of a given output. In addition, this approach represents a new model, which can explain inefficiencies in the production of qualitatively high services of consulting.
