Abstract

While the German Creative Industries have been in the focus of cultural rather than economic policy in the past, they are now gradually establishing themselves as a target of modern economic policy. This motion is due to the increasing international discussion and consideration of those branches. The Creative Industries are new key industries and contribute significantly to the economic value added and employment. They thus are an essential element within thriving economic regions in Europe. It is not surprising that both national as well as international institutions are now developing innovative instruments targeted at fostering the Creative Industries and thus fostering economic growth and employment.
