Abstract

Zusammenfassung Lassen Sie mich die folgende Feststellung an den Anfang des Versuches stellen, meine zentralen Erkenntnisse aus 25 Jahren Profifußball zusammenzufassen: Fußball ist zunächst einmal die einfachste Sache der Welt. Nichts bringt das klarer zum Ausdruck als der bekannte Spruch: „Das Runde muss in das Eckige“. Dieser Spruch ist hilfreich: Er ist eine extrem einfache Regel, die allen Mitgliedern des „Teams Fußballmannschaft“ – und das sind nicht nur die Spieler – einprägsam und unmissverständlich vor Augen führt, worum es eigentlich geht: Wer keine Tore schießt, verliert. Alle müssen diese einfache Regel verinnerlichen und auf dieses klare Ziel hinarbeiten. Alles andere, was zu dieser Regel hinzukommt, alles wodurch diese Regel ergänzt und erweitert wird – und mag es noch so ausgeklügelt, hilfreich und wichtig sein – alles andere als eine so einfache Verdichtung des „Geschäftsmodells Fußball“ birgt die Gefahr, vom Wesentlichen abzulenken. Und Ablenkungen gibt es im Profisport ohnehin genug.
