Abstract

Zusammenfassung Eine Analyse des Verhältnisses von Macht und Sprache erfordert zunächst eine Klärung dieser beiden Grundbegriffe. Angesichts ihrer inhaltlichen Komplexität und der langen Tradition von Definitionsversuchen ist dies ein keineswegs triviales Unterfangen. Eine klare Begriffsabgrenzung ist aber als Grundlage für empirische Untersuchungen unbedingt vonnöten. Ich versuche daher zunächst, unter Rückgriff auf einige prominente Definitionsversuche in Linguistik, Soziologie und Philosophie eine solche begriffliche Abgrenzung vorzunehmen. Dabei beginne ich mit der Definition von „Sprache“, anschließend versuche ich, den Begriff „Macht“ zu klären, um schließlich anhand einer Reihe von empirischen Beispielen das komplexe Zusammenspiel von Sprache und Macht zu illustrieren.
