Abstract

Zusammenfassung „Wo sitzt ein fünfhundert Pfund schwerer Gorilla? – Wo er will!“ Anschaulicher als in diesem Zitat, das dem amerikanischen Staranwalt und Literaturagenten Morton Janklow zugeschrieben wird, lässt sich Macht kaum beschreiben. Wer zur richtigen Zeit am richtigen Ort über die passenden Ressourcen verfügt – seien es nun fünfhundert Pfund an Körpergewicht, geheime Informationen, langjährige Erfahrung, das bessere Argument, eine etablierte hierarchische Position, Geld oder auch überlegene Waffen –, der hat Macht über denjenigen, der diese Ressourcen nicht oder zumindest nicht in ausreichendem Maße besitzt. Die Erfahrung lehrt zudem, dass Mensch wie Affe, wenn sie über Macht verfügen, ihre Ressourcen auch einzusetzen wissen: „Wenn ein Mächtiger teilt“, gab einst der französische Politiker Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929) zu bedenken, „dann beträgt seine Hälfte mindestens sechzig Prozent.“
