Abstract

Zusammenfassung Personalmanagement ist ein wesentliches Gestaltungsfeld, das die Strategie eines Unternehmens unterstützt. Strategic Human Resource Management (SHRM) beschäftigt sich dabei mit der Beziehung zwischen dem strategischen Management einer Organisation und dem Management ihres Humankapitals (Boxall 1996, S. 59). So wie das Firmenmanagement bemüht ist, den Profit der Organisation zu erhöhen, indem es entweder den Umsatz steigert oder Kosten senkt, ist auch das Personalmanagement daran interessiert, die Kosten des Faktors Arbeit zu senken oder den Umsatz, der durch die Mitarbeiter der Organisation generiert wird, zu steigern. Insbesondere die Beschäftigung ausländischer Mitarbeiter vermag zu diesen beiden profitmaximierenden Aktivitäten beizutragen, weshalb zwei Hauptargumente für die Beschäftigung ausländischer Mitarbeiter sprechen: a) Lohnkosteneinsparung und/oder b) Umsatzsteigerung.
