Abstract

Zusammenfassung Pat Riley war ein erfahrener Profi-Basketballspieler auf NBA-Niveau. Dort trainierte er unter den besten Trainern seiner Zeit Schulter an Schulter mit vielen der besten Spieler der Welt. Er blieb auch nach Beendigung seiner aktiven Laufbahn als Basketballspieler diesem Sport treu. Nach einiger Zeit wollte man von ihm, dass er den vakanten Job des Cheftrainers der Los Angeles Lakers übernehmen sollte. Er nahm das Angebot an und einen Tag später machte er sich auf den Weg in die PRAbteilung der Lakers, um einige Formalitäten zu erledigen. Auf dem Weg dorthin bemerkte er, dass ihm die gesamte Mannschaft folgte. Etwas irritiert meinte der neue Trainer zu „seinen“ Spielern, diese mögen nur ruhig in die Kabine gehen. Jedoch, die Spieler machten keine Anstalten die Richtung zu ändern, und trotteten weiter hinter ihm her. Pat Riley war auf einmal verunsichert, und er wusste nicht so recht, wie er sich in dieser Situation verhalten sollte. Endlich machte ein Spieler den Mund auf: „Du bist unser Anführer. Wir folgen Dir einfach.“ Jetzt erst merkte Riley, dass er nicht nur einen neuen Job angenommen hatte, sondern v.a. eine neue Rolle.
