In: Die Gödel’schen Unvollständigkeitssätze

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Nachdem wir uns in Kapitel 2 das notwendige Wissen angeeignet haben, um neben den formalen Details auch die philosophischen Aspekte der Unvollständigkeitssätze zu verstehen, ist es an der Zeit, zur Gödel’schen Arbeit zurückzukehren. In den wenigen, bisher zitierten Passagen hatte Gödel eine Bestandsaufnahme der Mathematik des frühen zwanzigsten Jahrhunderts vorgenommen und mit den Principia Mathematica sowie der Zermelo-Fraenkel-Mengenlehre zwei der damals vorherrschenden axiomatischen Systeme erwähnt. Waren diese Begriffe gegen Ende von Kapitel 1 noch inhaltsleere Hülsen, so erscheinen sie nach unserem historischen Exkurs in hellen Farben vor unserem geistigen Auge. Wir sind nun gut gewappnet, um auch den Rest der Gödel’schen Arbeit zu meistern. Hören wir also erneut zu!
