Abstract

Abstrait Un fil non pesant, parfaitement flexible et inextensible, d’une longueur déterminée, est attaché, par ses extrémités, à deux points fixes dont la distance donnée est moindre que sa longueur. Tous ses points sont attirés ou repoussés par un centre fixe, suivant une fonction déterminée de la distance. On demande l’équation la plus simple de la courbure du fil en équilibre? On demande, en particulier, ce que devient cette équation, lorsque l’attraction ou la répulsion, suit la raison inverse du quarré de lu distance?
