Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wir werden jetzt die wichtigsten Prinzipien darzulegen versuchen, die beim Aufbau der mathematischen Disziplinen angewendet werden sollen. Die genaue Analyse und kritische Wertung dieser Prinzipien gehört zu den Aufgaben einer besonderen Wissenschaft, nämlich der Methodologie der Mathematik. Für jeden, der eine Wissenschaft zu treiben oder zu studieren beabsichtigt, ist es zweifellos wichtig, sich der Methode bewußt zu sein, die man beim Aufbau dieser Wissenschaft verwendet; wir werden sehen, daß die Kenntnis der Methode im Fall der Mathematik von einer besonders weittragenden Bedeutung ist: ohne diese Kenntnis ist es unmöglich, das Wesen der Mathematik zu begreifen.
