Abstract

Zusammenfassung Bereits in den vorigen Kapiteln lernten wir einzelne Relationen, d. i. Beziehungen zwischen den Dingen kennen. Als Beispiel einer Beziehung zwischen zwei Dingen kann die Identität dienen; wir lesen manchmal die Formel: $$ x=y $$ folgendermaßen: das Ding x steht zum Dinge y in der Beziehung der Identität oder auch: zwischen den Dingen x und y besteht die Beziehung der Identität und wir sagen, daß das Symbol „=“ die Beziehung der Identität bezeichnet. Wir sind ferner manchen Beziehungen begegnet, die zwischen den Mengen von Dingen bestehen: es waren die Beziehungen des Enthaltenseins oder der Inklusion, des Sichschneidens, der Elementfremdheit u. a. Jetzt wollen wir einige Begriffe aus der allgemeinen Theorie der Beziehungen besprechen, die übrigens öfter Relationstheorie benannt wird: es ist ein besonderer, sehr wichtiger Teil der Logik, in welchem Beziehungen von ganz beliebigem Charakter betrachtet und Lehrsätze, die sie betreffen, aufgestellt werden.1
