Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Antinomie von Richard, eines der häufig angeführten Beispiele logischer Paradoxien, kann durch Überführung aus der vagen Alltagssprache in ein nach präzisen Regeln aufgebautes zahlentheoretisches System S sukzessive in das erste Theorem von Gödel umgeformt werden. Durch diese Überführung verschwindet der antinomische Charakter des ersten Satzes und an die Stelle einer antinomischen Behauptung tritt ein wichtiges metamathematisches Resultat. Man kann geradezu sagen, daß die Leistung Gödels darin bestand, die Fehler zu korrigieren, die für das Zustandekommen jener Antinomie verantwortlich zu machen sind, dabei aber zugleich die bei der Konstruktion der Antinomie verwendeten korrekten Schlüsse beizubehalten und sie in geschickter Weise für sein Theorem auszuwerten.
