Abstract

Zusammenfassung Nun habe ich nur noch von einem Anwendungsbereich der Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung ausführlicher zu sprechen, der etwa seit einem halben Jahrhundert erschlossen ist, in unserer Zeit stetig steigende Bedeutung erlangt und gerade in grundsätzlicher Hinsicht das größte Interesse in Anspruch nehmen muß. Ich meine damit die Rolle, die der Wahrscheinlichkeitsbegriff heute in der theoretischen Physik spielt, eine Rolle, die geschaffen wurde durch den genialen Gedanken Boltzmanns, einem der wichtigsten Säße innerhalb des physikalischen Lehrgebäudes, dem sogenannten zweiten Hauptsaß der Wärmetheorie, die Form einer Wahrscheinlich-keitsaussage zu geben. Ich brauche, wenn ich Ihnen die Verhältnisse, um die es sich hier handelt, näherbringen soll, nichts an besonderen physikalischen Kenntnissen vorauszusetzen. Es ist sogar für den ersten Augenblick besser, gar nicht den stofflichen Inhalt des Saßes, auch wenn man ihn voll versteht, ins Auge zu fassen, sondern mehr die logischen Formen, in denen er ausgesprochen wird, zu beachten.
