Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Aufstellung des Planckschen Strahlungsgesetzes um die Jahrhundertwende bedeutet den Beginn einer einzigartigen Krise in der theoretischen Physik, deren Beendigung wir auch heute noch nicht vorauszusehen vermögen. Die Anfänge ihrer Frucht, der Quantentheorie, finden sich diesem Ausgangspunkte gemäß in V 23: Theorie der Strahlung von W. Wien behandelt, welche Darstellung dem eigentlichen Thema des vorliegenden Artikels historisch daher am nächsten steht. Die neuere Entwicklung hingegen, gekennzeichnet durch die Namen Einstein, Bohr, Sommerfeld, hat die Quantentheorie im wesentlichen immer deutlicher zu einer Theorie der Materie fortgebildet; als Inbegriff molekularer Gesetzmäßigkeiten ist sie dadurch nicht nur in Beziehung zu den makroskopischen Gesetzen der gesamten Massischen*) Physik getreten, sondern hat auch — worauf es hier allerdings nicht ankommen wird — in mancherlei Hinsicht; die Chemie der Physik tributpflichtig gemacht.
