Abstract

Zusammenfassung Gegenstand der Wahrscheinlichkeitsrechnung sind die ungewissen Ereignisse 1), das sind (reale oder abstrakte) Thatbestände 1), über deren Dasein oder Eintreffen 2) auf Grund der Prämissen oder Bedingungen nicht mit Sicherheit gefolgert, sondern nur mit einem minderen oder höheren Grade der Berechtigung ausgesagt werden kann. Diejenigen (konstanten oder variabeln) Bedingungen, auf welche die Bemessung des Grades der Berechtigung oder Erwartung, das Wahrscheinlichkeitsurteil, gegründet wird, bezeichnet man als die Ursachen 3) oder Chancen 4) des Thatbestandes; sie beruhen auf dem gesamten Wissen 6) über die Materie. Diejenigen (variabeln) Bedingungen, welche in ihrem beständigen Wechsel unserer Kenntnis sich entziehen, bilden das, was man als Zufall 6) bezeichnet; auf sie bezieht sich das Nichtwissen 5). Daher werden Ereignisse von der gekennzeichneten Art auch als zufällige Ereignisse bezeichnet.
