Abstract

Zusammenfassung Eine Ellipse kann als der Weg eines Punktes definiert werden, für den (in der Ebene) die Summe der Entfernungen von zwei festen Punkten konstant ist. Befestigen Sie zwei Nägel auf einem Zeichenbrett, und an den beiden Nägeln eine Schnur, die länger als die Entfernung der Nägel ist. Nehmen Sie den lockeren Teil mit dem Bleistift auf und ziehen Sie dann unter Spannen der Schnur die Kurve. Diese Kurve ist eine Ellipse (Bild 43), weil die Länge d1 + d2 der Schnur konstant ist. Die Punkte F1 und F2, in denen die Schnur befestigt ist, heißen Brennpunkte.
