Abstract

ZusammenfassungDie heute gängigsten Führungsprozesse erzielen im Verhältnis zum zeitlichen Aufwand, welcher betrieben werden muss, deutlich zu wenig Wirkung. Trotz dieser Erkenntnis tun sich Firmen und Führungskräfte schwer damit, alternative und bessere Führungsprozesse zu leben. Die bekannten Führungsprozesse in den Firmen drehen sich meist um Ziele setzen und erreichen, um Mitarbeiterentwicklung, um die Mitarbeiterbewertung und die Belohnung der Mitarbeitenden. Vielfach wird viel Zeit in Ziele, deren Bewertung und eine entsprechende Belohnung investiert. Dies, obwohl es offensichtlich ist, dass der mit Abstand größte Treiber für Leistung im Sinne des Unternehmens die Entwicklung der Mitarbeitenden ist. Das Verhältnis steht also direkt Kopf: Statt den Großteil in Mitarbeiterentwicklung zu investieren, investieren Firmen und Führungskräfte viel Zeit in das Setzen und Messen von Zielen und in die Bewertungsdiskussionen. In diesem Kapitel erarbeiten wir die Erkenntnis, dass die Mitarbeiterentwicklung das zentrale Element von Führung ist und dass dafür insbesondere die Beziehung zwischen Mitarbeitendem und Führungskraft eine zentrale Rolle spielt. Nur wenn diese Beziehung gefestigt ist, ist es überhaupt denkbar, dass Mitarbeitende sich engagieren und entwickeln wollen. Und dieses Wollen ist in dem Sinne zentral, als dass die Entwicklung etwas ist, was ausschließlich freiwillig passieren kann. Man kann niemanden zwingen, sich zu entwickeln.
