Abstract

Zusammenfassung Dies schrieb Klein an Sophus Lie, der wenige Monate vor ihm Professor in Christiania geworden war. Darboux erfuhr: „Es ist der alte Lehrstuhl v. Staudt’s, und es macht mir nicht wenig Vergnuegen, dessen Nachfolger im Amte sein zu duerfen, da ich seine Sachen in letzter Zeit immer wieder studirt habe.“ Adolph Mayer in Leipzig erhielt die Nachricht, dass die Sache so unverhofft kam, er sich nicht lange besonnen habe und seine Vorlesungen vorzeitig beendete, um eine mit seinem schottischen Freund William R. Smith geplante 3-wöchige Bergtour in die Tiroler Alpen zu starten.
