Abstract

Chapter 8 introduces us to the chemical industry, one of the largest industrial sectors in Germany. The industry is facing major upheavals that affect the products, the cycles, and the value chains. Matthias Wolfgruber is a long-standing chairman of the supervisory board in the industry. He deals with the topic of renewal and how supervisory bodies can better position themselves for the future of chemistry. In addition to new competencies and qualifications, Matthias Wolfgruber insists on “absolute independence” in order to be able to lead companies into the future through dialogue and open discussion.
