Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Titel weist primär darauf hin, dass ein besseres Verständnis der Zukunft notwendig ist, bevor wir versuchen können, sie zu gestalten. Angesichts der Offenheit und Unvorhersehbarkeit der Zukunft muss betont werden, dass von verschiedenen möglichen Zukünften die Rede sein sollte. Es ist entscheidend festzuhalten, dass Aussagen über die Zukunft nur im aktuellen Kontext getroffen werden können. Daher sollte eher von gegenwärtigen Zukünften gesprochen werden, und konsequenterweise auch von gegenwärtigen Vergangenheiten. Dieser Beitrag befasst sich neben der Diskussion dieser Annahmen mit zwei Aspekten, die einen Umgang mit Zukunft in der Praxis ermöglichen. Erstens werden historische Vorstellungen von Zukünften, insbesondere aus Science-Fiction-Romanen oder -Filmen, betrachtet. Zweitens wird der Ansatz der Futures Literacy, von der UNESCO entwickelt, behandelt. Dieser Ansatz fokussiert explizit darauf, wie die Gegenwart unsere Vorstellungen von der Zukunft beeinflusst.
