Abstract

Zusammenfassung Hat das Handwerk eine Zukunft im Zeitalter der Digitalisierung und wenn ja, wie viele? Diese Frage beantwortet der vorliegende Artikel basierend auf Interviews mit Handwerkerinnen und Handwerkern sowie durch die Beobachtung der Arbeit in den Betrieben. Dabei hat sich gezeigt, dass sich das Handwerksuniversum in eine Vielzahl von Zukünften aufzufächern beginnt. Auf der einen Seite wird es Handwerksbetriebe geben, die, nicht zuletzt wegen des Fachkräftemangels, weitestgehend auf Digitalisierung, Automatisierung und Robotik setzen werden. Auf der anderen Seite zeichnet sich eine neue Blüte des klassischen Handwerks ab, weil mit der Produktion durch die Hand von Menschen für andere Menschen ein Verhältnis entsteht, das eine Maschine nie ersetzen können wird. Zwischen diesen Polen werden sich eine Vielzahl von Geschäftsmodellen entwickeln, die das Beste aus beiden Welten miteinander verbinden.
