Abstract

Zusammenfassung Ralf Münnich (*1964 in Heidelberg) steht wie kaum ein anderer aktiver deutscher Statistik-Hochschullehrer für die Verbindung zwischen akademischer und amtlicher Statistik. Er begann sein Berufsleben zwar als Diplom Mathematiker (Studium in Heidelberg und Tübingen mit Nebenfach VWL, dazwischen Erasmus-Stipendium an das St. Patrick’s College Maynooth, Irland), wandte sich aber bald angewandten Fragestellungen besonders aus der Amtsstatistik und dem Wirtschaftsleben zu. Seine Promotion zum Dr. rer. pol. bei Eberhard Schaich in Tübingen 1996 erfolgte mit der Arbeit Gebundene Hochrechnung bei Stichprobenerhebungen mit Hilfe von Splines, seine Habilitation im Jahr 2005 behandelte die Datenqualität in komplexen Stichproben. In dieser Zeit, bis zu seinem Wechsel als Professor an die Universität Trier im Jahr 2005, arbeitete Ralf Münnich zunächst als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter, dann als Akademischer Rat am Tübinger Lehrstuhl für Lehrstuhl für Statistik, Ökonometrie und Unternehmensforschung.
