Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wolfgang Härdle ist eine der international bekanntesten deutschen Statistiker. Er wurde 1953 in Darmstadt geboren und hat nach dem Abitur in Gaggenau in Karlsruhe Mathematik studiert. Nach seiner Promotion 1982 in Heidelberg, habilitierte er 1988 in Bonn in Statistik und Ökonometrie, ging dann für drei Jahre als Professor an die Université catholique de Louvain und erhielt 1992 einen Ruf auf die Ladislaus von Bortkievicz Professur für Statistik an der wirtschaftswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Humboldt-Universität Berlin. Trotz weiterer Rufe, unter anderem an die Ludwig-Maximilian-Universität und an die London School of Economics, blieb er jedoch als Sprecher von zwei DFG Sonderforschungsbereichen in Berlin. Im Jahr 2023 hat er das seit 2013 bestehende internationale DFG -Graduiertenkollegs IRTG 1792 „High Dimensional Non Stationary Time Series“ mit der chinesischen Xiamen Universität beendet.
