Abstract

Zusammenfassung Stefan Mittnik (*1954) gehört wie Gerhard Arminger zu dem exklusiven Kreis deutschsprachiger Statistiker, die über ihre eigenen wissenschaftlichen Beiträge hinaus auch noch bemerkenswerte Erfolge bei der kommerziellen Umsetzung ihrer Forschung vorzuweisen haben. Nach einem Diplom im Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen an der TU Berlin 1981 hat Stefan Mittnik einen MA in Development Economics an der University of Sussex abgelegt, gefolgt von einem Ph.D. in Economics and Applied Mathematics an der Washington University in St. Louis 1987. Im Anschluss lehrte er an der Stony Brook University in New York, nahm 1994 einen Ruf an die Universität Kiel an und wechselte 2003 an LMU München, wo er bis 2020 im Department für Statistik wirkte.
