Abstract

Zusammenfassung Helmut Lütkepohl, (*1951 in Volmerdingsen, heute Bad Oeynhausen), ist der wohl international bekannteste deutsche Ökonometriker, mit zahlreichen Publikationen in führenden Fachzeitschriften. Nach dem Studium der Mathematik in Bielefeld mit anschließender Promotion in Wirtschaftswissenschaften führten ihn seine Berufsstationen über San Diego (Visiting Assistant Professor), Hamburg, Kiel, die Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und das European University Institute in Florenz wieder zurück nach Berlin, wo er bis zu seiner Pensionierung eine Bundesbankprofessur für Methoden der empirischen Wirtschaftsforschung an der Freien Universität inne hatte und auch mit seiner Frau Sabine lebt. Zugleich leitete und organisierte er das Doktorandenprogramm des Deutschen Instituts für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW), eines der größten und erfolgreichsten in der Bundesrepublik. Mit dem Interviewer Walter Krämer traf er sich am Rande eines Vortrags vor dem von W. Krämer geleiteten DFG-Sonderforschungsbereich „Nichtlineare statistische Modelle in Wirtschaft und Technik“ im Juli 2018 in Dortmund.
