Abstract

Zusammenfassung Hans Schneeweiß (*1933) gehört zu den prägenden Gestalten der deutschen Ökonometrie und empirischen Wirtschaftsforschung. Er war Gründungsmitglied des ökonometrischen Ausschusses des Vereins für Sozialpolitik, dessen Leitung er von 1979 bis 1983 innehatte. Sein einschlägiges Lehrbuch (Ökonometrie, Schneeweiß 1971) ist eines der ersten deutschsprachigen Ökonometrie-Lehrbücher überhaupt, die vierte Auflage erschien 1990. Von 1987 bis 1995 leitete Hans Schneeweiß auch den Ausschuss für empirische Wirtschaftsforschung und angewandte Ökonometrie der DStatG, von 1980 bis 1988 und dann wieder von 1996 bis 2000 war er gewählter Fachgutachter für Statistik der Deutschen Forschungsgemeinschaft, von 1987 bis 1989 und von 1999 bis 2000 Dekan seiner Fakultät. Ferner gab er in der Nachfolge von Günter Menges von 1983 bis 1996 die Statistischen Hefte (heute: Statistical Papers) heraus.
