Abstract

Zusammenfassung Peter-Theodor Wilrich (* 1937 in Dresden) zählt sicher zu den in mehrfacher Hinsicht einflussreichsten Statistikern seiner Generation. Von 1976 bis zu seiner Emeritierung 2002 war er Ordentlicher Professor für Statistik an der Freien Universität Berlin, mit den Forschungsschwerpunkten Versuchsplanung, statistische Qualitätskontrolle und Analyse von Messsystemen. Hier war er lange Jahre national wie international überaus aktiv, etwa als Vorsitzender des DIN-Normenausschusses „Qualitätssicherung und Statistik“ (in dieser Eigenschaft hat er maßgeblich zahlreiche Normen, etwa die ISO-9000 Serie, mitgestaltet; für diese Verdienste wurde ihm 1980 die goldene Ehrennadel des DIN verliehen) oder als Vorsitzender eines Subkommittees der ISO, in welchem er den sechsteiligen ISO-Standard 5725 „Accuracy (trueness and precision) of measurement methods and results“ maßgeblich mitverfasste. Seit 2005 ist er Fellow (als einer von nur zwei Deutschen) der American Society for Quality (ASQ).
