Abstract

Zusammenfassung Karl hat als Schüler bei der Talentförderung Mathematik in Hamburg teilgenommen, aber auch schon davor viel Spaß an Mathe gehabt. Insbesondere sein Vater, ein gelernter Radio- und Fernsehtechniker, der nach seiner Gesellenprüfung noch Informatik studierte, hat sich mit ihm über mathematische Themen unterhalten. Als Schüler hat er auch an verschiedenen Schülerwettbewerben teilgenommen. Auch in der Schule wurde er unterstützt. Auf Empfehlung seines Mathe-, Physik- und Informatiklehrers konnte er schon in der Oberstufenzeit an der TU Hamburg-Harburg als Juniorstudent studieren. Bei dem Hintergrund wundert es nicht, dass er schlussendlich auch Mathematik studiert hat und mit Anfang 30 bereits Mathematikprofessor geworden ist. Er lebt zurzeit mit seiner Familie in einem Vorort von Kopenhagen und nahm kürzlich Erziehungsurlaub für sein zweites Kind. Man sieht, ihm ist sowohl die Forschung als auch die Familie sehr wichtig.
