Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Beitrag stellt einen internationalen mathematischen Wettbewerb vor, der die Lösung eines realistischen Anwendungsproblems mit Methoden der mathematischen Modellierung fokussiert. Weltweit wird jedes Jahr ein- und dieselbe Problemstellung von Teams mit bis zu vier Schülerinnen und Schüler einer Schule über einen zusammenhängenden Zeitraum von maximal 120 h bearbeitet und als Ergebnisreport mit maximal 20 Seiten Umfang eingereicht. Wir stellen die Idee des Wettbewerbs in Deutschland vor und zeigen exemplarisch an zwei ausgewählten Wettbewerbsbeispielen, wie Fragestellungen dieser Art thematisiert werden (können). Hinweise zur Bearbeitung und den unserer Meinung nach geförderten Kompetenzen sowie grundlegende Kriterien zur Bewertung bilden den Abschluss.
