Rund ums Känguru der Mathematik

Abstract

Zusammenfassung In diesem Kapitel geht es um den Känguru-Wettbewerb, einer der weltweit größten und verbreitetsten Mathematikwettbewerbe für Schülerinnen und Schüler, und alles, was inzwischen um diesen herum an Angeboten entstanden ist. Zunächst wird anhand von Känguru-Aufgaben aus der Geometrie die grundlegende Idee des Wettbewerbs skizziert, die inhaltliche und gestalterische Bandbreite des Wettbewerbs dargelegt und es werden Denkanstöße zu vertiefenden Betrachtungen ausgehend von diesen Aufgaben angeregt. Danach wird ein Blick auf die facettenreichen zusätzlichen Angebote geworfen, die sich rund um den Känguru-Wettbewerb in vielen teilnehmenden Ländern im Laufe der Jahre entwickelt haben und zur weiteren Popularisierung von Mathematik und zur Talentförderung beitragen.
