Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Erderwärmung bewirkt ein beschleunigtes Schmelzen von Gletschern weltweit, verbunden mit einem Anstieg der Meere. Je nach Szenario handelt es sich um Zentimeter, Dezimeter oder Meter mit einschneidenen Konsequenzen für Küsten und deren Megastädte. Auf den kritischen Thwaites-Gletscher in der Antarktik, welche 90 % der globalen Eismassen ausmachen, wird genauer eingegangen.
