Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wer sich etwas umhört, findet Philosophen immer wieder stark gescholten. Sie seien borniert, uneinsichtig, rechthaberisch, verweigerten sich selbst evidenten Einsichten etc. pp. In der Tat ist zu beobachten, wie Philosophen manchmal durch Versenkung in die Tiefen ihres Faches verhindert sind, Dinge zu erkennen, die mancher andere als offensichtlich ansieht. Soweit die mildere Form; oft genug erheben sie solche Defizite allerdings nolens volens zum Bestandteil ihrer Philosophie und werden damit auch Ziel von Gespött – gerade ihrer Fachgenossen. Schon Descartes sagte, dass die Philosophie von den ausgezeichnetsten Köpfen einer Reihe von Jahrhunderten gepflegt worden sei und dass es gleichwohl nichts in ihr gebe, worüber nicht gestritten würde.
