Abstract

Zusammenfassung In diesem Kapitel geht es um Schätzung und Planung, und wir möchten auch an dieser Stelle ein paar grundsätzliche Worte vorausschicken. Das Schätzen von Aufwänden, Umfängen und Dauern ist in den allermeisten Entwicklungsvorhaben üblich. Dabei geht es in der Regel um eine Abschätzung, wie viele Menschen an einem Projekt arbeiten sollen und wie lange die Umsetzung dauern könnte. Die (vermeintliche) Transparenz darüber soll dann bei der besseren Planung und Steuerung des Vorhabens helfen. Meist erfolgt die erste Schätzung daher schon vor dem Start oder zumindest sehr früh im Projektverlauf. In der Vergangenheit wurde im Regelfall versucht, mögliche Aufwände in absoluten Werten zu schätzen, etwa in Stunden. Dafür werden zum Beispiel im klassischen Projektmanagement aus den wesentlichen Aufgaben Arbeitspakete gebildet, die dann die Basis für eine Schätzung von Vorgangsdauern in Stunden oder Tagen dienen. Mithilfe solcher Schätzungen lassen sich dann Phasen beschreiben, Ablaufpläne erstellen und Termine ableiten. Diese Schritte sollen der Reduktion von Komplexität dienen.
