Abstract

Zusammenfassung Energie ist wichtig. Energie ist lebensnotwendig. Denn unser Körper ist faktisch eine Maschine, der jeden Tag Energie zugeführt werden muss, damit ein einwandfreies Funktionieren gewährleistet ist. Ähnlich funktioniert unser mittlerweile sehr komplexes und hochgetriebenes Wirtschaftssystem. Alles ist miteinander vernetzt, voneinander abhängig und ohne Energie bricht es, wie der menschliche Körper, innerhalb kurzer Zeit zusammen – Multiorganversagen sozusagen. Vor allem unsere tägliche Kommunikation und die gesamte Logistikkette (Stichwort Lebensmittelversorgung) sind schwer abhängig von Elektrizität. Bei einem längeren Stromausfall würde es bis zu einer Woche dauern, bis wieder alle Menschen in Österreich mit Lebensmitteln versorgt werden können. Was hier noch erschwerend hinzukommt, ist ein stetig steigender Strombedarf aufgrund der weiteren Elektrifizierung von aktuell noch fossil betriebenen Gerätschaften sowie der stark steigenden Elektromobilität. Laut einem Bericht des Fraunhofer Instituts ist in Deutschland bis 2045 mit einer Verdoppelung des Strombedarfs zu rechnen (Armin Scharf, 2022).
